How Spirinity Delivered Broadcast-Quality Music Livestreams for Guitar Center
Overview
Spirinity Productions partnered with Guitar Center to produce live multi-camera broadcasts featuring respected musicians demonstrating guitars, drums, DJ equipment, recording gear, and other professional instruments while answering questions from both the in-store audience and viewers watching live on YouTube.
Challenge
These productions took place inside active Guitar Center retail stores filled with valuable instruments, limited floor space, customers, and ongoing business. Our crew needed to create a television-quality broadcast without disrupting the shopping experience or risking damage to the products surrounding the stage.
Project Snapshot
Protecting the Performance, Live
Every camera angle, mic placement, and cable run was engineered to keep Guitar Center's live music broadcasts uninterrupted, protecting both the in-store audience experience and the YouTube Live stream.
Camera Cuts as Another Instrument
Music is unpredictable. Rather than switching cameras constantly, our technical directors looked for moments where camera movement enhanced the performance instead of distracting from it. Sometimes holding a beautiful close-up of a guitarist's hands tells the story better than cutting between six different cameras. Great live production has rhythm — the camera cuts should feel like another instrument in the performance.
The same discipline extended to preparation. Every production balanced host microphones, guest microphones, live instruments, and playback tracks into a mix that preserved musical detail while keeping dialogue clear. Viewers rarely notice these details consciously, but they immediately notice when they’re missing.
A Broadcast Experience That Served Two Audiences at Once
The Guitar Center series successfully blended education, entertainment, product demonstrations, and live performances into a broadcast experience that served both in-store guests and online audiences. By combining experienced technical direction, broadcast-quality audio, thoughtful lighting, multiple camera angles, and reliable engineering, each livestream extended Guitar Center's educational events far beyond the walls of the store.
What Great Live Music Production Really Takes
Lessons from the Guitar Center livestream series.
Music is unpredictable. A guitarist may step into the audience. A drummer can move from subtle brush work into an energetic solo without warning. Unlike scripted presentations, musicians perform naturally, and the production team must react instantly while making sure viewers never miss the moment that matters.
A teleprompter should support the presenter, not the other way around. The best hosts use it as a guide for talking points, sponsor messaging, and viewer questions while allowing conversations to develop naturally. And because live performances happen once, additional camera coverage provides the flexibility to preserve continuity while capturing every important detail without interrupting the flow of the show.
Finished Product
The finished livestream series supported Guitar Center’s educational and product demonstration initiatives while delivering a consistent, broadcast-quality presentation across every location. Polished, cinematic, and unmistakably on-brand from open to close.
